Zinc citrate, also known as citric acid zinc, is a medication used for zinc supplementation. It is applied to treat conditions such as loss of appetite, anemia, growth retardation, nutritional dwarfism, low function of male sexual organs, and intestinal pustular dermatitis caused by zinc deficiency. It is also used for rheumatoid arthritis, intermittent claudication, copper-induced Parkinsonism, acne, chronic ulcers, conjunctivitis, and oral ulcers.
Uses: 1. For children with growth retardation, malnutrition, anorexia, and pica due to zinc deficiency; 2. Can be used to treat adolescent anorexia and zinc deficiency in children. Clinical application is for treating children with growth retardation, malnutrition, anorexia, and pica caused by zinc deficiency. Drug interactions: 1. Do not take this medicine with milk. 2. Do not use this medicine together with aluminum salts, calcium salts, carbonates, tannic acid, etc. 3. This medicine can reduce the effects of penicillamine and tetracycline drugs. 4. Synthesis method: Take 10.94 kg of citric acid, add 44 L of distilled water, stir and dissolve, then filter. Add the filtered solution to a temperature of 40-42℃. Also, take 6.35 kg of zinc oxide (100 mesh), add 26 L of distilled water, stir to form a thin paste suspension. Under intense stirring at 100 revolutions per minute, gradually add the citric acid solution, continue to stir and keep at 40-42℃ until the reaction solution becomes clear. Continue to stir for 5 minutes, add 0.1% activated carbon and stir for 10 minutes. Filter hotly, pour the filtrate at room temperature for 24-48 hours, pour off the supernatant, filter, collect the precipitated crystals, wash the crystals with distilled water twice until the washing solution has a pH of 6, dry at 60℃, and obtain white zinc citrate. Yield of zinc citrate: 14.2 kg, yield rate: 82.1%, purity: 98.2%.
