Blue copper peptide, also known as copper peptide, GHK-Cu, is a complex of GHK (tripeptide -1) and copper ions, and GHK is a fragment of type I collagen. Dr. Lauren Pickart is the inventor of copper peptide. In 1973, he found that human blood contains copper peptide, and the content of copper peptide in young people's blood is 2.5 times that of the elderly. At the same time, he found that copper peptide has a good wound repair function. After further study, it was found that copper peptide can activate tissue remodeling.

Copper peptide is one of the earliest and most widely used cosmetic peptides in the polypeptide series. GHK was first isolated from human plasma in 1 973, and it was found to have wound repair function in 1985. In 1999, researchers thought that GHK and its copper complex could be used as an activator of tissue remodeling, which is also a signal peptide, promoting the degradation of a large number of collagen aggregates outside scars, the synthesis of normal collagen in skin, the production of elastin, proteoglycan and glucomannan, the growth rate and migration of different cell types, and the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant reactions.
