It has a role as a plant metabolite, a histological dye, an antineoplastic agent, a biological pigment, an anti-inflammatory agent, an apoptosis inducer, an antioxidant, an antibacterial agent, a NF-kappaB inhibitor and a hepatoprotective agent.
