      Product Introduction

Sulfolane (also named Tetramethylene Sulfone / Tetrahydrothiophene 1,1-Dioxide, CAS: 126-33-0, EINECS: 204-783-1, HS Code: 2930909090) is a colorless transparent high-boiling liquid with a mild odor, a typical polar aprotic solvent with molecular formula C₄H₈O₂S and molecular weight 120.17. We supply industrial grade, fiber grade and electronic grade products complying with international quality standards. It is fully miscible with water, alcohols, ketones and most organic solvents, features excellent thermal and chemical stability, strong dissolving power, high selectivity for aromatic hydrocarbons, low toxicity and low corrosion. It is solidified below 28°C as a normal physical property and can be melted by gentle heating without quality impact. Widely used as core solvent in petrochemical aromatics extraction, pharmaceutical synthesis, new energy batteries, polymer processing and gas purification industries.

    Applications
    Petrochemical Aromatics Extraction (Core Application)
The benchmark solvent for the global mainstream Sulfolane aromatics extraction process, used to separate and purify benzene, toluene and xylene from reformate and pyrolysis gasoline. It delivers extremely high aromatic selectivity and recovery rate, low solvent loss and stable long-term circulation performance, being the standard extraction solvent for refinery and aromatics plant units worldwide.
    Organic & Pharmaceutical Synthesis
Widely used as a high-boiling polar aprotic reaction solvent in the production of pharmaceutical intermediates, pesticide active ingredients and dye chemicals. It is suitable for nucleophilic substitution, condensation and polymerization reactions, effectively improves reaction conversion and product purity, and can be recycled and reused with low comprehensive cost.
    New Energy & Electronic Industry
Electronic grade sulfolane serves as a high-boiling additive for lithium battery electrolytes, which improves the high-temperature stability and cycle life of electrolyte systems. It is also applied as a special cleaning agent for semiconductor wafer processing, with ultra-low metal impurity content meeting the strict requirements of microelectronic manufacturing processes.
    High-Performance Polymer Processing
Used as polymerization solvent and film-casting solvent for high-performance polymers such as polysulfone, polyimide and polyether ether ketone. It has excellent dissolving capacity for engineering plastic resins, is easy to remove after processing, and supports the production of high-strength functional films and advanced composite materials.
    Natural Gas & Syngas Purification
Applied as a physical absorption solvent to remove hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and organic sulfur from natural gas, refinery gas and synthesis gas. It features high purification degree, low regeneration energy consumption and no degradation under acidic conditions, and is an efficient energy-saving solvent for gas desulfurization and decarbonization processes.
    Other Industrial Scenarios
Used as dyeing carrier and leveling agent in textile printing and dyeing industry, high-temperature additive for hydraulic fluids, and stationary phase for gas chromatographic analysis. It is also added to specialty lubricants and metalworking fluids to improve thermal stability and lubricating performance.

    Product Advantages
✅ Excellent solubility & selectivity: Strong polarity with wide dissolution range, outstanding selective solubility for aromatic hydrocarbons and polar compounds, recognized as the benchmark solvent for aromatics extraction
✅ Outstanding thermal stability: Boiling point up to 285°C, thermal decomposition temperature above 220°C, resistant to acid and alkali, supports long-term recycling with extremely low solvent loss
✅ Low toxicity & low corrosion: Far lower physiological toxicity than traditional organic solvents, no obvious corrosion to metal equipment, high operational safety and good environmental performance
✅ Complete grade matrix: Industrial, fiber and electronic grades available, customizable with ultra-low moisture and ultra-low ionic impurity specifications for high-end scenarios
✅ High recyclability: Efficiently recoverable via vacuum distillation with high recovery rate, significantly reduces comprehensive usage cost and meets circular economy requirements
✅ Stable supply capacity: Mature large-scale production with sufficient capacity, consistent batch quality, supporting long-term bulk procurement for continuous industrial production

    Packaging & Storage
Standard packaging: 250kg internally coated galvanized steel drums, or 1000kg IBC tanks for bulk orders; ISO tank container delivery available for large volume. Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated warehouse at 5–40°C. Keep containers tightly sealed, avoid direct sunlight, and store separately from strong oxidants, strong acids and alkalis. The product may solidify below 28°C, which is a normal physical property and does not affect quality after gentle heating and melting. Shelf life is 24 months under proper storage conditions.
    Safety Information
Classified as non-hazardous goods for regular transportation. The product has low acute toxicity and is non-flammable under normal conditions. It may cause mild irritation to skin and eyes; prolonged direct contact should be avoided. Wear protective gloves and goggles during handling. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water. Complete MSDS and quality inspection certificates are available upon request.
