                                              Synthetic Process

                                              Dimethylaminopropyl-N-propylamine is manufactured through the following routes:

                                              • Reductive amination: 3-Dimethylaminopropylamine is reacted with propionaldehyde or acetone in the presence of a reducing agent (such as hydrogen with a metal catalyst or sodium borohydride) to introduce the propyl group.

                                              • Alkylation: 3-Dimethylaminopropylamine is alkylated with propyl halide (such as propyl bromide) in the presence of a base.

                                              • Purification: The crude product is purified by distillation under reduced pressure.
