hymalin is a polypeptide complex consisting of low-molecular-weight peptides (primarily di- and tripeptides, such as EW, KE, and EDP) originally extracted from the thymus glands of young calves. Developed in the 1970s by Russian scientists led by Professor Vladimir Khavinson, it is a pioneering peptide bioregulator designed to restore and modulate immune function.

It acts by stimulating the maturation and differentiation of T-lymphocytes, normalizing the CD4+/CD8+ T-cell ratio, and enhancing overall thymic activity. This makes it a potent immunomodulator that counteracts age-related immune decline (immunosenescence) and supports immune recovery after infections, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy.

GHK is attached to palmitic acid (a fatty acid) to increase its skin penetration and oil solubility.
Pal-GHK is a form of the extracellular matrix-derived peptide GHK containing palmitic acid , which allows it to penetrate the stratum corneum to the epidermal and dermal skin layers. Pal-GHK (0.5 μM) increases collagen synthesis in human skin fibroblastsin vitro. It reduces collagen degradationex vivoin patient-derived human skin samples irradiated with UVA light when used at a concentration of 6 ppm. It has been used with the zwitterionic surfactant C12dodecyldimethylamine oxide (C12DMAO) to study self-assembly of the mixture into aggregates, ribbons, and nanobelts. Pal-GHK has also been used as an internal standard for the quantification of pal-KTTKS in anti-wrinkle creams by LC-MS/MS.
