Industrial Grade Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose, abbreviated as CMC, has a fixed CAS number 9004-32-4. It is a water-soluble anionic cellulose ether extracted from natural cotton fiber through alkalization, etherification, repeated washing and low-temperature drying procedures. Our factory develops low, medium and high viscosity series CMC with controllable substitution degree, which acts as multi-functional thickener, stabilizer, binder and water-retaining agent widely adopted in detergent, construction, ceramic manufacturing and oil drilling industries globally.

The finished material is uniform white fibrous fine powder without strange smell and features strong moisture absorption. It can disperse quickly in both cold and hot water without caking, forming homogeneous viscous colloidal liquid. The carboxymethyl groups on its molecular chain endow CMC outstanding water retention, anti-settling and anti-redeposition functions, and its viscosity remains stable under neutral, weak alkaline and low-salt working conditions, making it an essential auxiliary raw material for all kinds of water-based industrial formulas.

In detergent production, low-viscosity CMC is added as anti-redeposition additive. It wraps dirt particles to stop stains re-adhering to fabrics during washing and improves the cleaning performance of laundry detergent. For ceramic factories, CMC serves as plasticizer and blank binder, increasing the strength of ceramic green bodies, reducing cracking risk in drying and firing stages and upgrading the smoothness of finished ceramic surfaces.

Construction industry mainly adopts high-viscosity CMC for wall putty and mortar. It provides outstanding water retention to avoid rapid water loss on construction surfaces, extends operable time and enhances the bonding force of mortar. In oil exploitation, medium and high viscosity CMC is mixed into water-based drilling fluid as fluid loss control agent. It forms compact filter cake on well walls to cut water filtration loss, stabilize mud viscosity and prevent well wall collapse, greatly boosting drilling safety and efficiency.
