Cellulose carboxymethyl ether sodium is the sodium salt of cellulose arboxymethyl and frequently used as viscous agent, paste and barrier agent.

A cellulose derivative which is a beta-(1,4)-D-glucopyranose polymer. It is used as a bulk laxative and as an emulsifier and thickener in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals and as a stabilizer for reagents.

Methods of Manufacturing

Carboxymethyl cellulose is produced by reacting cellulose with sodium hydroxide to form alkali cellulose and then carrying out carboxymethylation with monochloroacetic acid. Preparation method can be divided into water as a medium to react with the water medium and in isopropanol, ethanol, acetone and other solvents in the solvent reaction method.

Uses

It is used as a thickening agent in the food industry, as a drug carrier in the pharmaceutical industry, and as a binding agent and anti-resettling agent in the daily chemical industry. Used as sizing agent and protective colloid of printing paste in printing and dyeing industry. It can be used as a component of oil fracturing fluid in petrochemical industry. This product has the functions of adhesion, thickening, strengthening, emulsification, water retention and suspension.
