Guar gum is a natural plant-based polysaccharide thickening and stabilizing agent that hydrates rapidly in both cold and hot water. It forms a highly viscous, pseudoplastic solution even at low concentrations and can be blended with xanthan gum and carrageenan to synergistically enhance gel-forming properties, making it suitable for formulations and processing across multiple industries. In the food industry, as the compliant thickener E412, it is used in ice cream to inhibit ice crystal formation, in sauces to emulsify and prevent separation, and in baked goods to retain moisture and enhance chewiness; it is also suitable for gluten-free and vegan formulations. In the pharmaceutical industry, it serves as a tablet binder and a suspension stabilizer for oral solutions. In the industrial sector, it is primarily used for sand transport in oil fracturing and reducing fluid loss in drilling fluids.
