    —— Product Detail ——

    Product Overview

p-Anisidine (p-methoxyaniline) is an organic compound with the molecular formula C₇H₉NO and a molecular weight of 123.15 g/mol. This white to light brown crystalline powder is a valuable building block in organic synthesis, featuring both an amino group and a methoxy group on a benzene ring in the para relationship. The compound is widely used as an intermediate in the synthesis of azo dyes, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals. Its dual functionality enables diverse derivatization reactions, including diazotization, coupling, and alkylation. It is also used as a corrosion inhibitor and in the production of various fine chemicals.

    Synthetic Process

p-Anisidine is synthesized through the following routes:

    • Reduction of p-nitroanisole: p-Nitroanisole is reduced using hydrogen and a metal catalyst or chemical reducing agents (such as iron and acid) to yield p-anisidine.

    • Purification: The crude product is purified by recrystallization from ethanol or water.

Mechanism of Action / Application Principles

    • Dye Synthesis: Used as an intermediate in the production of azo dyes and pigments.

    • Pharmaceutical Research: Serves as a building block for the synthesis of pharmaceutical compounds.

    • Organic Synthesis: The amino and methoxy groups enable diverse chemical transformations.
