Physical & Chemical Properties

Appearance & Form: White monoclinic crystalline lumps or powder; odorless or with a faint characteristic garlic-like odor.

Solubility: Soluble in water; slightly soluble in alcohol.

Assay (Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate, CH3NaO₃S 2H₂O): Not less than 99.0% min.

pH Value: Typically 7.0 to 10.5 (in 5% aqueous solution).

Melting / Decomposition Point: Decomposes upon heating above 63^oC (dihydrate).
