    Titanium Dioxide

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) is a high-purity, inorganic white pigment characterized by its fine particle size, excellent whiteness, high brightness, and stable chemical properties. Its specially treated surface provides excellent gloss, strong hiding power, high tinting strength, and good dispersion, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

Titanium Dioxide is an important inorganic chemical pigment and is primarily composed of titanium dioxide. It is manufactured using two main production processes: the sulfate process and the chloride process.

Due to its excellent optical properties, durability, and dispersion performance, Titanium Dioxide is widely used in coatings, paints, inks, paper, plastics, rubber, chemical fibers, ceramics, and many other industries.

    Product Application

Titanium dioxide (TiO₂) is one of the world's most widely used and high-performance white pigments. It is valued for its excellent whiteness, opacity, tinting strength, weather resistance, heat resistance, and chemical stability. Titanium dioxide is widely used in coatings, plastics, paper, printing inks, synthetic fibers, rubber, cosmetics, ceramics, enamels, and other industrial applications.

Titanium dioxide occurs naturally in three crystalline forms: anatase, rutile, and brookite. Brookite is an unstable crystal form with limited industrial applications, while anatase and rutile are the two commercially important forms. Their stable crystal structures and excellent optical properties make them essential white pigments for a wide range of industries.

    1. Paints and Coatings

The coatings industry is the largest consumer of titanium dioxide, particularly rutile-grade TiO₂. Its high hiding power, excellent tinting strength, whiteness, and durability make it an important ingredient in architectural, industrial, and protective coatings.

Titanium dioxide helps produce coatings with bright, uniform colors and excellent coverage. It can also improve the durability and stability of coating films, helping protect surfaces from cracking, UV exposure, moisture penetration, and weathering. As a result, TiO₂ can contribute to longer coating service life and improved overall performance.

    2. Plastics

The plastics industry is another major application area for titanium dioxide. Adding TiO₂ to plastic products can improve whiteness, opacity, light resistance, heat resistance, and weatherability.

Titanium dioxide can also help enhance the physical and mechanical properties of certain plastic formulations and improve their resistance to environmental degradation, contributing to longer product service life.

    3. Paper

Titanium dioxide is widely used in the paper industry, particularly in premium-grade and lightweight papers. As a pigment and filler, TiO₂ improves paper whiteness, brightness, opacity, smoothness, and printability.

Its high refractive index provides excellent light-scattering properties, allowing manufacturers to produce lightweight paper with good coverage and appearance. Anatase titanium dioxide is commonly used in conventional paper applications, while surface-treated rutile grades may be selected where enhanced light and heat resistance are required.

    4. Printing Inks

Titanium dioxide is an important white pigment for high-performance printing inks. It provides excellent whiteness, opacity, tinting strength, durability, and dispersion characteristics.

TiO₂-containing inks can maintain their appearance over extended periods and provide good surface coverage. Both rutile and anatase grades may be used depending on the formulation and performance requirements of the ink.

    5. Synthetic Fibers and Textiles

Titanium dioxide is widely used in synthetic fiber production, primarily as a delustering or matting agent. It helps reduce the natural luster of synthetic fibers and provides a softer, more natural appearance.

Anatase titanium dioxide is commonly selected for fiber applications because of its suitable particle characteristics. Depending on the specific fiber and processing conditions, surface-treated grades may be used to reduce photocatalytic activity and help protect the polymer matrix from light-induced degradation.

    6. Enamel

Titanium dioxide is an important raw material for enamel manufacturing. Enamel-grade TiO₂ is characterized by high purity, excellent whiteness, uniform particle size, high refractive index, and strong opacity.

It can produce smooth, uniform, and durable enamel coatings with excellent covering power. Titanium dioxide also offers good compatibility with other raw materials, helping ensure uniform mixing and efficient processing during enamel production.

    7. Ceramics

Titanium dioxide is also widely used in ceramic manufacturing. Ceramic-grade TiO₂ offers high purity, uniform particle size, high refractive index, and excellent high-temperature stability.

It provides strong opacity and whiteness while maintaining its properties during high-temperature processing. These characteristics make titanium dioxide suitable for ceramics, architectural materials, decorative products, and other high-temperature applications.

    Packaging & Shipping

Titanium dioxide is typically supplied in moisture-resistant, multi-layer industrial packaging suitable for storage, handling, and international transportation. Standard packaging options may include 25 kg bags, 500 kg jumbo bags, and 1,000 kg bulk bags, depending on customer requirements.

Products should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, protected from moisture and contamination. During transportation, appropriate packaging and handling procedures should be followed to maintain product quality and prevent damage to the packaging.
