    BIFENAZATE Usage And Synthesis
Description Bifenazate is an insecticide used for mite control. It has a low water solubility, volatile and would not be expected to leach to groundwater. Bifenazate is also not expected to persist in soil or water systems. It is highly toxic to mammals and a recognised skin, eye and respiratory system irritant. It is moderately toxic to most aquatic organisms, honeybees and earthworms.
Uses BifenazateBifenazate is an selective miticide for the control of a variety of mite pests on crops.
    Uses Acaricide.
Definition ChEBI: A carboxylic ester obtained by formal condensation of 2-(4-methoxy[1,1'-biphenyl]-3-yl)hydrazinecarboxylic acid with 2-propanol.
Production Methods Bifenazate is synthesised through a streamlined chemical process designed for efficiency and high yield. The key production steps begin with selecting a suitable aromatic amine precursor, which undergoes methylation and subsequent amination to form the core carbamate structure. A transesterification reaction is then performed using isopropanol, which replaces more costly reagents like isopropyl chloroformate and avoids generating double-linked impurities.
    Synthesis Reference(s) Synthetic Communications, 36, p. 2151, 2006 DOI: 10.1080/00397910600636683
Mechanism of action Neuronal inhibitor, non-systemic having contact and residual action. Mitochondrial complex III electron transport inhibitor - at Qo site.
    Pesticide Type Insecticide; Acaricide
