Polyethylene Glycol 400, short for PEG 400, CAS No.: 25322-68-3, chemical formula HO(CH2CH2O)nH, average molecular weight 380~420.
It is colorless, clear, slightly viscous liquid at room temperature, odorless or with faint characteristic odor. Miscible freely with water, ethanol, acetone, glycerin; insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbon, mineral oil.
Produced by polymerization of ethylene oxide and water. Has excellent hydrophilicity, lubricity, solubilizing capacity and mild non-irritating property. Available in industrial grade, cosmetic grade, pharmaceutical medical grade complying with USP/EP/CP pharmacopoeia standards.
