Calcium Propionate (CAS:637‑12‑7, molecular formula is calcium salt of propionic acid, manufactured by neutralization reaction between propionic acid and calcium hydroxide/calcium carbonate, followed by concentration, crystallization, drying and pulverization. It appears as white crystalline powder or granule, slight characteristic odor of propionic acid, easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol. It releases propionic acid in aqueous system to inhibit the growth of mold, yeast and gram-positive bacteria. It is an efficient, low-toxicity food & feed preservative, complying with FCC, GB and industrial additive standards.
