• Resmetirom (CAS 920509-32-6), also known as MGL-3196 or VIA-3196, is a first-in-class, liver-directed, orally active, selective thyroid hormone receptor beta (THR-β) agonist . It appears as a white to off-white solid powder with the molecular formula C₁₇H₁₂Cl₂N₆O₄ and a molecular weight of 435.22 g/mol . The compound was developed as a lipid-lowering agent and later repurposed for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), becoming the first FDA-approved therapy for this indication
