Description

Appearance: White crystalline powder or granules, odorless, non-toxic, and highly water-soluble. The aqueous solution is slightly acidic and chemically stable.

Agricultural Use: A high-efficiency phosphorus-potassium fertilizer (approx. 52% P₂O₅ and 34% K₂O, nitrogen-free). It promotes flower bud differentiation, increases fruit-setting rates, and enhances fruit expansion, coloration, and sweetness. It also improves crop resistance to drought, cold, pests, and lodging. Mainly applied as foliar spray (0.2%–0.3% concentration), and also used for seed soaking, seed dressing, or fertigation.

Industrial & Other Uses: Serves as a buffering agent, culture medium ingredient, and raw material in fermentation and pharmaceutical industries. In water treatment, it is used as a corrosion inhibitor and scale-control agent.

Potassium dihydrogen phosphate is a potassium salt in which dihydrogen phosphate(1-) is the counterion. It has a role as a fertilizer. It is a potassium salt and an inorganic phosphate.|Monopotassium phosphate, MKP, (also potassium dihydrogenphosphate, KDP, or monobasic potassium phosphate), KH2PO4, is a soluble salt of potassium and the dihydrogen phosphate ion. It is a source of phosphorus and potassium as well as a buffering agent. It can be used in fertilizer mixtures to reduce escape of ammonia by keeping pH low.

Permanent in air. At 400 °C loses water, forming metaphosphate|pH = 4.5 (1% aqueous solution). Forms ferroelectric crystals (Critical temperature = -151 °C)|At ordinary temperatures, monopotassium phosphate is so far above its Curie point as to give piezoelectric effects in which the emf is proportional to the distorting force. There is virtually no hysteresis.|Curie point: 123 K; Spontaneous polarization: 4.7 uC/cu cm at 110 K
