Gallic acid (3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid) is a naturally occurring phenolic acid widely distributed in plants, especially in gallnuts, sumac, and tea. It is supplied as a high-purity reference standard (HPLC≥98%) for phytochemical, antioxidant and analytical research.

Synthetic Process
Gallic acid is obtained industrially by acid or enzymatic hydrolysis of tannins, followed by purification and crystallization. Reference-grade material is further purified by recrystallization and chromatography.

Mechanism of Action
As a trihydroxybenzoic acid, Gallic acid acts as a strong antioxidant, scavenging free radicals and chelating metal ions. It is widely used as a research tool for studying phenolic antioxidant mechanisms and as a standard in analytical methods.
