Benvitimod (CAS 79338-84-4), also known as Tapinarof, WBI-1001, or GSK2894512, is a small-molecule stilbenoid compound with the molecular formula C₁₇H₁₈O₂ and a molecular weight of 254.32 g/mol . It is chemically designated as (E)-3,5-dihydroxy-4-isopropylstilbene, featuring a trans-stilbene core bearing hydroxyl groups at the 3- and 5-positions and an isopropyl substituent at the 4-position . Originally isolated from the symbiotic bacteria Photorhabdus luminescens found in soil nematodes, benvitimod is now produced synthetically . It is approved as a topical treatment for plaque psoriasis and is under investigation for atopic dermatitis
