Product Overview
Rhodium(III) chloride hydrate is a red-brown crystalline inorganic compound containing 38.5-42.5% rhodium. It is supplied at AR grade for catalyst preparation, electroplating, and organic synthesis. It is soluble in water, hydrochloric acid, acetone, and alcohols .

Synthetic Process
Rhodium(III) chloride hydrate is produced by the reaction of rhodium metal with chlorine gas at elevated temperature, followed by hydration and purification.

Mechanism of Action
As a rhodium(III) salt, it serves as a precursor for rhodium catalysts used in hydrogenation, hydroformylation, and cross-coupling reactions. It is also used as a catalyst for the conversion of methane to acetic acid .
