What Is DIHEXA Peptide?

Dihexa (research code: PNB-0408), also known as N-hexanoic-Tyr-Ile-(6) aminohexanoic amide, is an oligopeptide drug derived from angiotensin IV. It binds to hepatocyte growth factor with high affinity and enhances its activity at the receptor c-Met. Studies have found that this compound can significantly improve cognitive function in animal models with Alzheimer's disease-like cognitive impairment. In neurotrophic activity assays, Dihexa is seven orders of magnitude more potent than brain-derived neurotrophic factor.

According to a patent, "Short-term safety studies of Dihexa have not found obvious toxicity. It is particularly noteworthy that it does not induce tumorigenesis, even though c-Met is considered an oncogene. This is not surprising, because tumorigenesis requires multiple mutations, including the induction of oncogenes and the attenuation of tumor suppressor genes."
