Description

Cinnamon aldehyde, with the IUPAC name of 1,7,7-trimethyl-2-hexanone, is a terpene-based organic compound with the chemical formula C10H16O. At room temperature, it is a white or transparent waxy solid and can be used for insect repellency. Cinnamon is extracted from the trunks of cypress trees. The older the cypress tree is, the higher the proportion of cinnamon it contains. The extraction method involves cutting the tree trunks into small pieces and conducting water distillation. As the cinnamon oil heats up, it rises with the steam and, upon contact with a pre-prepared earthenware cylinder placed above, it can form cinnamon.
