3-METHOXY-PYRIDINE-2-CARBALDEHYDE Use and Manufacturing

A mixture of selenium dioxide (478 mg, 4.30 mmol) and dioxane (8 mL) was heated to 80 °C. 3-methoxy-2-methylpyridine (265 mg, 2.15 mmol) in dioxane (2 mL) was added. The mixture was reacted at 80°C for 18 h, filtered off and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was purified by column chromatography to give the title compound as a yellow gum (27percent yield).
