Dibutyl phosphite Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Derived from the reaction of butanol and phosphorus trichloride. The Hooker Chemical Company of the United States reacts butanol with phosphorus trichloride at a pressure below atmospheric pressure. When the liquid alcohol enters the reaction zone, it evaporates immediately, absorbing the heat generated by the exothermic reaction, and making the reaction proceed smoothly. The yield of dibutyl phosphite can reach 92% in terms of PCI3, and it will increase with the increase of alcohol consumption.

Uses

Used as anti-wear agent for lubricating oil. It is compounded with sulfurized isobutylene and other additives, and can be formulated into automobile hyperbolic gear oil. The general dosage is 0.5-1.0%. Because the product is acidic and easily decomposed in water, it should be compounded with an appropriate amount of alkaline rust inhibitor. In addition, the product can also be used as flame retardants, gasoline additives, antioxidants, solvents and organic synthesis intermediates.
