Barium sulfide Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Barite and anthracite are reduced and roasted at 950-1100°C, and then added with sulfur and ground to produce barium sulfide. Its BaSO4+2C→BaS+2CO2BaS+3S→BaS·S3 or BaS+4S→BaS·S4

Uses

As depilatory; in luminous paints; manufacture of lithopone; vulcanizing rubber, generating H2S.
