2-(4-Hydroxypenyl)pyridine Use and Manufacturing

General procedure: A mixture of aryl ketones (1.0 mmol), 1, 3-diaminopropane (1.3 mmol) and p-toluene sulphonic acid (1.0 mmol) was stirred under oxygen atmosphere in THF. In this Pd (OAc)2 (0.1 mmol) was added and reaction mixture was heated to reflux temperature for 8-12 h. After completion of the reaction (TLC), reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and concentrated under reduce pressure. The resulting concentrated solution was further diluted with water and then extracted with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate layer was washed with Na2S2O3 solution, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure to get the crude product. The product was then purified by using silica gel column chromatography (Hexane-EtOAc).A mixture of sodium carbonate (2.364 g), tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (0.644 g), 2-bromopyridine (1.76 g), 4-hydroxyphenylboronic acid (2 g), 1, 2-dimethoxyethane (50 mL) and water (10 mL) was stirred overnight at 80°C under nitrogen atmosphere.
