2,4,4-Trimethyl-1-pentene Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The product used in industry is a mixture of this product and its isomers, containing 76% of this product, and about 20% of 2, 4, 4-trimethyl-2-pentene [107-40-4], Other octene accounts for 4%. Industrially, it is obtained from the C4 fraction of refineries or ethylene plants. Use the remaining part of the C4 fraction to extract the butadiene as the raw material, use sulfuric acid to selectively absorb diisobutylene, and then heat the sulfuric acid that has absorbed the diisobutylene to separate the diisobutylene-based polymer. Use this polymer After washing the sodium carbonate solution, it is refined by distillation to obtain the above-mentioned industrial products.

Uses

2,4,4-Trimethyl-1-pentene is used as a modifier for making synthetic rubber tackifier, various surfactants, phenol resin and epoxy resin, ultraviolet absorber, polymerization inhibitor, polymer Vinyl chloride stabilizers, plasticizers, etc., are also used to produce organic intermediates such as p-octylphenol, isononyl alcohol, etc.
