RD20000 is a corticosteroid which is obtained by esterifying with propionic acid the 17-position of the prednisolone skeleton and deoxidating its 21-position.

Deprodone propionate Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Method 1: 21-deoxydehydrocortisol is oxidized to 21-deoxydehydrocortisone with chromium trioxide manganese nitrate in acetic acid, and then esterified with propionic anhydride under the catalysis of p-toluenesulfonic acid, and then hydroborated Potassium is reduced to Dipredone propionate. Method 2: 21-O-methanesulfonyl dehydro-cortisol is used in acetic acid with acetyl nitrate to generate 21-O-methanesulfonyl-11-O-nitrodehydrocortisol. Then in acetic acid, it reacts with sodium iodide and sodium bisulfite to generate 21-deoxy-11-O-nitrodehydrocortisol. Then it is esterified with propionic anhydride and the nitro group is removed with zinc powder-acetic acid to obtain dipredone propionate.

Uses

Local anti-inflammatory corticosteroids. Used for anti-inflammatory and anti-allergy.
