2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylpyridine Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

First, 2, 6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylpyran (trifluoromethanesulfonic acid) salt is prepared from trimethylacetyl chloride, tert-butanol and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. Then the salt was suspended in ethanol, cooled to -60°C and reacted with concentrated ammonia to produce 2, 6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylpyridine.

Uses

2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylpyridine is an organic synthesis intermediate. 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylpyridine has been used for: 1) In the synthesis of 1,2-dihydro-2-silanaphthalene derivatives; 2)As a base in the cyclization of homopropargyl azide derivatives catalyzed by PtCl4; 3)Diastereoselective synthesis of β-thiomannopyranoside
