2-Ethoxy-1-naphthalenecarbonyl chloride Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The β-naphthol and ethanol are refluxed under the catalysis of sulfuric acid to produce β-naphthalene ethyl ether after etherification, which is then formylated with dimethylformamide under the action of phosphorus oxychloride to obtain 2-ethoxynaphthaldehyde. Furthermore, potassium permanganate is used to oxidize the aldehyde group to obtain 2-ethoxynaphthoic acid, and finally the product is prepared by thionyl chloride chlorination.

Uses

Intermediate of ethoxynaphthalene sodium.

1-Naphthalenecarbonyl chloride, 2-ethoxy-: INACTIVE
