Description
Blue-green crystals (monoclinic system) or granules, odorless. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, soluble in anhydrous methanol.
Iron(2+) sulfate heptahydrate is a hydrate that is the heptahydrate form of iron(2+) sulfate. It is used as a source of iron in the treatment of iron-deficiency anaemia (generally in liquid-dosage treatments; for solid-dosage treatments, the monohydrate is normally used). It has a role as a nutraceutical, an anti-anaemic agent and a reducing agent. It is a hydrate and an iron molecular entity. It contains an iron(2+) sulfate (anhydrous).|Ferrous Sulfate is a sulfate salt of mineral iron formulated for oral administration and used as a dietary supplement, ferrous sulfate is absorbed in the stomach and small intestine and combines with apoferritin to form ferritin, which is stored in the liver, spleen, red bone marrow, and intestinal mucosa. Important in transport of oxygen by hemoglobin to the tissues, iron is also found in myoglobin, transferrin, and ferritin, and is a component of many enzymes such as catalase, peroxidase, and cytochromes.

Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate Use and Manufacturing
Used as an analytical reagent and raw material for ferrite; as an iron enhancer for feed additives. In agriculture, it can be used as a pesticide to prevent wheat smut, scab of apples and pears, and rot of fruit trees; it can also be used as a fertilizer to remove moss and lichen from tree trunks. It is a raw material for manufacturing magnetic iron oxide, iron oxide red and iron blue inorganic pigments, iron catalysts and polyferric sulfate. Used in medicine as a local astringent and blood tonic. It is also used as a chromatographic analysis reagent. Food grade is used as a nutritional supplement, such as iron fortifier, fruit and vegetable coloring agent. Feed grade ferrous sulfate, used as an iron supplement in feed processing. Used as food iron fortifier. China stipulates that it can be used for filling sugar and table salt, and the usage amount is 3000~6000mg/kg; in high-iron cereals and their products (daily limit of 50g of such foods), it is 860~960mg/kg; in dairy products and infant food It is 300-500mg/kg; in cereals and its products, it is 120-140mg/kg; in beverages, it is 50-100mg/kg. Used in the production of iron salts, iron oxide pigments, mordants, water purifiers, preservatives, disinfectants, etc., as anti-anemia drugs in medicine
