Castasterone is a brassinosteroid, a 2alpha-hydroxy steroid, a 3alpha-hydroxy steroid, a 22-hydroxy steroid, a 23-hydroxy steroid and a 6-oxo steroid. It has a role as a plant growth stimulator.

Uses

Brassinolide and Castasterone were isolated from the mature seeds of smooth loofah (Luffa cylindrica (L.) M.J. Roem). A new class of plant hormones with plant growth-promothing activity.
