Description
Colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid 3,4,5,6,6-Pentamethyl-3-hepten-2-one is a mixture of double
bond isomers. It is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid with a complex wood, floral
note with amber and violet nuances and is used in perfume oils for a wide range
of applications, especially in perfume oils for soaps, shower gels, and shampoos.
The material is prepared by acetylation of diisoamylene with acetic anhydride
or acetyl chloride under boron trifluoride etherate catalysis.
