Add trichloroacetaldehyde and concentrated nitric acid to the reaction kettle, heat and dissolve to obtain trichloroacetic acid, then add sodium hydroxide aqueous solution to neutralize, concentrate, crystallize, filter, and dry to obtain the product.

As a decalcifier and fixative in microscopy; also as a precipitant of protein.As herbicide.
