2-Amino-1-cyclopentene-1-carbonitrile Use and Manufacturing

A mixture of adiponitrile (5.40 g, 50 mmol) and powdered t-BuOK (6.72 g, 60 mmol) was kept at room temperature overnight. The crystalline solid that was formed by the addition of water to the reaction mixture was filtered off and recrystallized from MeOH to give 2-amino-1-cyclopentene-1-carbonitrile (4.26 g, 79percent).
