6-CHLORO-4-AMINO-2-METHOXYPYRIMIDINE Use and Manufacturing

4-Amino-6-chloro-2-methoxypyrimidine; Sodium methoxide (12 ml of a 25percent wt solution in methanol) was added to methanol (300 ml) and to this mixture added 4-amino-2, 6-dichloropyrimidine (5.00 g, 30.5 mmol). The resultant solution was heated at reflux for 2 hours and then evaporated to dryness. The residue was treated with water (250 ml) and the precipitate which formed filtered and dried in vacuo to give the title product as a white solid (3 g, 61percent). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) 3.92 (3 H, s), 5.21 (2 H, br s), 6.14 (1 H, s).
