Isotretinoin(13-cis-Retinoic acid) is a medication used for the treatment of severe acne. Retinoic acid is a retinoid consisting of 3,7-dimethylnona-2,4,6,8-tetraenoic acid substituted at position 9 by a 2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-en-1-yl group (geometry of the four exocyclic double bonds is not specified). It has a role as a human metabolite. It is a retinoid and an alpha,beta-unsaturated monocarboxylic acid. It is a conjugate acid of a retinoate.

Uses

Used as a treatment for severe acne.Presently being studied in conjuction with the treatment of photoaged skin. It is a vitamin A drug, which has a strong and rapid function of inhibiting the proliferation and differentiation of skin gland cells, and is highly effective for severe nodular cystic acne. This product has better gastrointestinal absorption, but local medication is ineffective. It is used for severe acne, cystic acne, and party acne that are ineffective in the treatment of other drugs. It also has a certain effect on skin diseases such as rosacea, ichthyosis, follicular keratosis and pityriasis. Used for severe acne etc. Anti-keratosis drugs.
