2-Naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid Use and Manufacturing
It is derived from the sulfonation of 2-naphthol. In addition to R acid, there is also G acid. The sulfonate is salted out with sodium chloride to obtain the R salt. In industrial production, R salt is a by-product of G salt. After 2-naphthol is sulfonated with sulfuric acid to produce G acid and R acid, the sulfonate is diluted and salted out with potassium chloride to make the G salt precipitate out pioneeringly (process See 26250). The remaining waste acid solution is salted out with sodium chloride to obtain R salt. Raw material consumption quota: G salt waste acid 35000kg/t, table salt (above 90%) 14000kg/t.
This product is an important intermediate for food coloring, azo dyes, and functional colorings. Also used as an intermediate for fluorescent indicators and many other reagents.
