Trimethylsilyl iodide Use and Manufacturing
5.6 g (0.21 mol) of aluminum powder and 16.2 g (0.10 mol) of hexamethyldisiloxane were added to the reactor, and the air was replaced with nitrogen. Heat to 60°C, add 50.8g (0.2mol) of iodine with stirring, warm to 140°C and reflux for 1.5h. At atmospheric pressure distillation, 32.6-35.3g of trimethyliodosilane was obtained with a yield of 82-88%.
