Europium oxide Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The extraction method uses the rare earth chloride solution obtained by processing monazite or mixed rare earth ore as raw material. Extraction with P204-kerosene-HCl-ReCl3 system, first grouping of neodymium and samarium, the raffinate is used to extract light rare earths, samarium and heavy rare earths are extracted into the organic phase, and then the medium and heavy rare earths are back-extracted with 2.0 mol/L HCI to obtain The middle rare earth samarium and gadolinium enrichment is reduced by zinc powder, and europium is extracted by the alkalinity method, and then precipitated by oxalic acid, separated, dried, and burned to prepare europium oxide. Eu2(C2O4)3→Eu2O3+3CO2+3CO

Uses

Used as an activator for a variety of phosphors, it is an essential material for red phosphors, and can also be used as a control material for atomic reactors.
