Doramectin Use and Manufacturing

Mutational biosynthetic antiparasitic antibiotic structurally related to the avermectins Doramectin is used for the treatment of ectoparasitic diseases such as nematode diseases and mites of domestic animals. It is obtained by fermentation of a new strain of Streptomyces avermitilis with genetic recombination. The main difference from ivermectin is that the C25 position is substituted by cyclohexyl. It is a new and broad-spectrum antiparasitic drug, which is highly effective against gastrointestinal nematodes, lung nematodes, euglena, lice, ticks, mites and wound maggots, and against internal and external parasites, especially certain nematodes (roundworms) and Arthropods also have a good repellent effect, but they are not effective against tapeworms, flukes and protozoa. Its mechanism of action is mainly to increase the release of the inhibitory transmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) of the worm, thereby blocking the transmission of nerve signals, making muscle cells lose the ability to contract, and causing the death of the worm.
