Imidocarb Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

The ethyl m-nitrobenzoate was reacted with ethylenediamine in the presence of trimethylaluminum to prepare 2-(3-nitrobenzene)imidazoline with a yield of 90%. It is then reduced to 2-(3-aminobenzene) imidazoline, and finally phosgenated to obtain imidazole urea through condensation.

Uses

Imidocarb is a urea derived antiprotozoal agent used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of infection with babesia and other parasites. This product is an anti-pyroworm disease drug with the characteristics of high curative effect, low toxicity and small dosage. Severely infected cattle, sheep, and babesiella disease can be quickly controlled by treatment with imidazolium, and no recurrence has been seen after three months of treatment. This product also has a preventive effect on pyometriosis.
