The commercialization of perovskite cells is expected to accelerate in the future

soutuliao 2022-10-26

A few days ago, the all-perovskite lamellae battery module developed by the Renshuo Optical Energy team was certified by the Japanese JET authority, and the steady-state efficiency reached 24.50%, achieving the world's first.

It is understood that the steady-state efficiency refers to the efficiency of perovskite cells/components under stable conditions of continuous operation, which can offset the charge accumulation caused by the hysteresis effect and is closer to the actual working efficiency. Thus, the steady-state efficiency is recognized in the field of perovskite solar cells as the practical efficiency of the cell/module.

What is the concept of 24.5%? It is understood that the highest efficiency of the N-type module is only 24.24%, which is the Vertex supreme high efficiency N-type single crystal silicon module developed by Trine Solar. The authoritative third party T? V North German test certification, component window efficiency reached 24.24%.

Therefore, at present, the steady-state efficiency of perovskite battery modules is higher than that of N-type modules commonly used in the market, and its industrialization potential is greater. Renshuo, the record maker, is also promoting the development and industrialization of perovskite laminating technology. It has signed an industrial landing project agreement with Changshu Economic Development Zone, and is expected to complete the construction of a 150MW mass production line in the third quarter of 2023.

In addition, in August this year, Renshuo Light Energy completed a Pre-A round of financing of hundreds of millions of yuan, led by three banks Capital, China Science and Technology Innovation Star, Su Gaoxin Venture Capital, Jinpu Intelligence, Xianfeng Changqing, Yunqi Capital, China Finance Industry Fund and other well-known institutions.

Turning to photovoltaic cells/modules, the current photovoltaic technology routes are in full bloom, and perovskite, TOPCon, HJT, PERC, IBC and other technical routes are competing for glory. The key point of technological innovation iteration is nothing more than efficiency and cost. As the most optimal perovskite cell/module to reduce cost and increase efficiency, the efficiency of superposition far exceeds that of traditional crystalline silicon cells (the theoretical efficiency of perovskite monolayer cell can reach 33%; The conversion efficiency of all-perovskite double junction stacking is up to 45%. The conversion efficiency of all-perovskite tri-junction stacking can reach 50%), which has attracted much attention in the market.

From the policy perspective, in August this year, nine departments including the Ministry of Science and Technology issued the Implementation Plan for Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Supported by Science and Technology (2022-2030). The plan proposes to develop technologies such as efficient and stable perovskite batteries. To study the new principle of photoelectric conversion that can break through the theoretical efficiency limit of single-junction photovoltaic cells, and to study the new technology of photovoltaic cells based on new materials and new structures such as high-efficiency thin film cells and laminated cells.

Tianfeng Securities expects that the follow-up perovskite battery commercialization is expected to accelerate. At present, the market share of thin-film battery in our country is still low, and the application field is mainly BIPV curtain wall. With the continuous iteration of perovskite battery technology, its initial investment cost per W may have reflected its advantages. If the stability can be improved in the future, it is expected to become a new generation of photovoltaic technology.

In terms of cost, the process of perovskite cells takes only 45 minutes, and the components can be completed in only a single factory, and the investment in perovskite cell capacity is only half that of crystalline silicon. In addition, perovskite raw materials are not sensitive to impurities, easy to obtain, and the amount is small, so the cost advantage is obvious.
