Fortune 500: Johnson & Johnson Beauty Makes Four consecutive titles
The 2020 Fortune Global 500 list is announced. The most noticeable change in this year's ranking is that mainland Chinese companies have achieved a historic leap. The number of mainland Chinese companies on the list has reached 124, surpassing the United States (121) for the first time in history. With the addition of Taiwanese companies, China has 133 companies on the list.
In the list, there are 6 beauty-related companies, namely Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Dior, Unilever, Changjiang Hutchison, and L'Oreal, ranking 104th, 156th, 180th, 185th, 328th and 375th respectively.
In the past five years, the beauty-related companies on the list are also these six major companies. Since 2017, Johnson & Johnson has continued to float around the 100th place, occupying the top spot in the beauty-related companies list.
Judging from this year’s rankings, Johnson & Johnson, Dior, Changjiang Hutchison, and L'Oréal have all increased, of which Changjiang Hutchison has the largest increase, rising 24 places to 328; P&G drops 10 places to 156, Unilever Drop 18 places to 185.
In the past five years, in terms of the six companies on the list, Dior’s ranking has changed significantly: from 2016 to 2019, it ranked fourth in beauty-related companies, and this year surpassed Unilever to rise to third.
On the whole, in the past five years, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble and Unilever have stabilized in the top 200 in the world, Dior has changed around 200, and Changjiang Hutchison and L'Oreal have been in the 300-500.
It is worth mentioning that P&G broke into the top 100 list in 2016 and 2017, ranking 86 and 98 respectively; Johnson & Johnson ranked 97 in 2017.
The changes in the list are strongly related to the performance of each company.
In this year’s list, Johnson & Johnson’s operating income reached US$82.059 billion (approximately RMB 569.908 billion), which is a large gap with P&G’s US$67.684 billion (approximately RMB 470.07 billion) in revenue; in terms of net profit, Johnson & Johnson The performance of 15.119 billion U.S. dollars (approximately RMB 105.003 billion) is not only far ahead of Unilever’s 6.295 billion U.S. dollars (approximately RMB 43.726 billion), but also exceeds P&G’s USD 3.897 billion (approximately RMB 27.06 billion). 3 times as much.
It is reported that the operating income of the Fortune Global 500 companies this year reached 33 trillion U.S. dollars (approximately RMB 228.98 trillion), a record high. The threshold (minimum sales revenue) to enter the rankings has also increased from last year's 24.8 billion US dollars (about 172.082 billion yuan) to 25.4 billion US dollars (about 176.246 billion yuan).
