Clean beauty startup Saie raises funding from Unilever
According to Yahoo!Sports, Saie has recently completed its seed round of funding, led by Unilever Ventures (the venture capital arm of Unilever), with participation from Stage 1Fund and Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, among others, but the exact amount is not yet known.

Founded in 2019 by healthy lifestyle blogger Laney Crowell, Saie is based in New York City and aims to provide clean cosmetics to consumers. Prior to founding Saie, she spent five years as the head of Estee Lauder Group in the US and created her own healthy lifestyle website, The Moment, which focuses on sharing clean living.
According to the story, it was her experience working for a major beauty company and seeing firsthand the waste that goes into making cosmetics and the "chemicals" that go into the products that made Lenny Cromwell realize the opportunity for clean beauty - she wanted to create a clean beauty product that "works, looks cool, and isn't too expensive.
At the end of 2019, Saie launched the first products, including a mascara that costs $24 (RMB 167), an eyebrow gel that costs $18 (RMB 125), a lip balm that costs $16 (RMB 111) and a lavender-scented eyelash curler. Later, the company also introduced new lip glosses, highlighters and touch-ups, with a top-selling gloss gel called Glowy Super Gel retailing for $25 (RMB 173).
In addition to its makeup products, Saie has also introduced its own hand sanitizer, which is not yet available for sale, but is complimentary with orders.
