Natura&CoHolding SA's CEO says company looking to increase China business

Founded in 1969, Natura&Co Group is a global personal care cosmetics group headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil. The Group is not only a leader in the Brazilian direct sales industry, but also a giant group with more than 1.7 million consultants. Today, the company is the fourth largest pure natural beauty group in the world.

The group owns brands such as Brazilian skincare brand Natura, British organic skincare brand The Body Shop and Australian organic skincare brand Aesop, and currently sells products from The Body Shop and Aesop in China through its Tmall International platform.

Commenting on this accelerated Chinese footprint, Roberto deOliveira Marques, CEO of Natura Group, said, "China has huge potential and represents a real opportunity for the Group."

In fact, more and more beauty and cosmetics giants have been ramping up their presence in China in recent years with the rise of the country's consumer economy, and Natura Group's moves can be seen in its acquisition of Avon Group last year.

On May 23, 2019, Brazilian beauty group Natura announced a $2 billion ($13.83 billion) acquisition of 76% of Avon, a U.S.-listed company. It is reported that Avon, as a brand with more than 20 years of deep roots in China, has a more mature omni-channel layout and has maintained good performance. In 2018, Avon China continued its double-digit growth in the first quarter of 2019.
