Eli Lilly Tirzepatide's Phase III trial in obese or overweight adult patients in China was successful

yaozh.com 2023-02-07

On February 2, Eli Lilly announced that its glucose-dependent insulin stimulating peptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-6 (GLP-1) receptor agonist Tirzepatide, a phase III trial SURMOUNT-CN in obese or overweight adults in China, met the primary endpoint and all key secondary endpoints. In this trial, the overall safety profile of Tirzepatide was similar to that reported in previous trials, with no new safety signals identified.

Following the 2022 New England Journal of Medicine reporting the blockbuster results of Tirzepatide's world's first obese or overweight phase III trial, SURMOUNT-1, the SURMOUNT-CN trial once again validated the positive results in Chinese population. The trial data is being further collated and analysed, and the results will be published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
