LG Chem’s Yeosu cracker caught fire! Parking for at least 3 weeks
A naphtha cracking unit of South Korea's LG Chemical in Yeosu was shut down due to a fire accident.
The US Nasdaq Stock Exchange quoted Reuters as reporting that South Korea’s LG Chemical Company spokesperson said on November 5 that the company’s naphtha cracker in Yeosu City caught fire in the early morning of the 5th local time and was forced to shut down.
LG Chem said that the fire accident was a catalytic reformer. It is not clear whether the accident caused casualties. Currently, the company is investigating the cause of the fire.
The annual ethylene production capacity of this unit is approximately 1.2 million tons. The parking will last at least three weeks.
