Eni completes acquisition of bp's business in Algeria
Italian energy giant Eni recently announced that it has completed the acquisition of bp's business in Algeria, which involves two natural gas production leases in Amenas and Salah jointly operated with Sonatrach and Equinor.
The acquisition, announced in early September last year, is aimed at meeting Europe's gas needs and strengthening Eni's presence in Algeria.
Eni has been present in Algeria since 1981. Following this acquisition - and development projects already underway in the Berkine Basin - Eni's shared production in Algeria will rise to around 130,000 boe/d in 2023, further confirming the company's status as the country's major international energy player status.
