Eni, the Italian super oil giant, announced on Monday that it had started production of two gas fields in Berkine South Block in Algeria.

The daily output of Berkine South Block is 1 million cubic meters (about 35.3 million cubic feet) and 4000 barrels of associated liquid. It is estimated that by the end of 2022, the daily production capacity of the asset will increase to 2 million cubic meters (about 70.6 million cubic feet).

According to the accelerated development of the oilfield by Eni Group, the two gas fields were put into production within 6 months after signing the lease.

The output is related to the MLE gas processing plant with a daily processing capacity of 11 million cubic meters (388 million cubic feet).

Berkine South Block is the first block signed by Algeria in accordance with Algeria's Oil and Gas Law 19-13. It is jointly operated by Eni Group and its partner NOC Sonatrach.
